Just after Easter, I saw this cute idea on Cricket's Dashboard where she mailed filled plastic eggs to her nieces and nephews.  But not wrapped, just how they are!  I love it!!  And have been thinking of a way to do something like it without waiting until next year!

Cricket's Dashboard
Then I thought of the Altoid containers, like the one Alpha Mom made here!  She used hers for nuts and bolts with a tool case, but I know I've seen them as gift card holders floating around blogdom!

AlphaMom

So I made one for my MIL who lives out of state!  A gift card was looking like the most likely present...  And I'm going to just tape it up and mail it as is!

If you don't know how to make one of these snobby little gift card holders, it's so easy. Empty an Altoids tin and wipe it out.

The gift card JUST fits inside.

Then I made a little card to place inside.  I layered shredded paper, then the Mimi's Cafe card, then my card.  As you can see from the below picture, I also cut paper to fit the inside lid.  I don't have a picture, but I did it for the bottom of the box too.  Modge Podge worked fabulously to apply it.

I made the top card to act exactly as the label and I'm mailing it out tomorrow, so I'll let you know what it costs.  (But I can't imagine it'll be more than a couple dollars.)

But.

That's not all!

We have a Mother's Day gift for you too!

Okay all you mama's out there--we have a special treat for you today!! I am drink freak. Well let me clarify that, I am a no-calorie carbonated drink freak and when I came across this end cap at Walmart full of these delightful 2 litres of Sparkling Peach, Blueberry, Pink Lemonade and  Cherry Limeade I about ran over the woman in front of me. They were all no calorie--score number 1 and they were $0.68--yes you read that correctly and that is not a sale price just the good ol regular Walmart price. (This is why I torture myself with this store) So drink freak here buys a few (it could have been 12 or more) to try and then passes the tip on to my mom, sister, sis in laws, friends etc... So yummy especially with sonic ice. And if that alone is not enough we have a mommy mocktail recipe for you that will definitely take our $0.68 walmart special to the next level. (And I am sure for those of you who want something a little stronger than a "mocktail" have at it you won't be disappointed!!) But either way you will most definitely want to hit your favorite Walmart (except those of you in the areas surrounding Parker and Southlands I can't promise that there will be any of the Sparkling Peach left I have filled my food storage with it--wink wink) and add this to your Mother's Day Menu.

Ingredients:
1 Bottle of Sparkling Peach Soda
Fresh Mint, minced
Diced Peaches, either fresh or frozen
Ice (I prefer Sonic Ice)

Take the mint and place in the bottom of a glass
Place the peaches in the glass

Muddle (I can't believe I am actually using that word but I don't know what else to say and I have heard it used on Food Network so just go with it) the peaches and mint together and then put ice in glass and pour soda over the top. Stir with a straw and enjoy!!

The two sisters at Ladybird Ln made these two lovely Mother's Day printables (which I will be ordering when I get going someday...)

I especially love the display!  I think I'm going to get some old shots of my Mom to have out with my copy!

And then my super fabulous friend Leslie sent me an email with a link and image from Little Birdie Secrets:   It's a greeting card from Tiny Prints!

But we wanted frame-able art.  (What is it about all us DIYers?  We think if we can't have something JUST the way we want it, we'll do it ourselves!!!)  So snobs, here's a free printable from us.  Just let us know in a comment if you use it, and we'd love it if you added yourself as a follower!  Thanks!

I wish I could tell you that these yummy cupcakes were what I made for dessert for Easter, but Costco was out of raspberries and I was out of time for errands after Costco!  So I made an meh dessert tonight instead.  Blech.  I hate a lot of work for meh.

Moving on... I made these for a birthday party and they were a hit!  I've been craving more since they disappeared so quickly, so they most likely will be Mother's Day dessert!  Anyway, they're super easy and you should try 'em!

White Chocolate Raspberry Cupcakes
1 box of white cake mix, eggs and oil according to package
1 small cartons of raspberries, rinsed and drained
1 c. (approximately) of white chocolate chips, melted

(yep, that's the ingredients)

I followed the package directions, then added about a cup of melted white chocolate, mixing quickly as it was added.  Then I dumped in a small carton of raspberries and mixed those bad boys in.  This made 6 dozen mini cupcakes, which was about 2 more than a cake mix usually makes for me.  Cook according to directions.

White Chocolate Frosting
1 8 oz package of cream cheese
1 stick of butter
(1/4 c to 1/2 c) whole milk
2 lbs of powdered sugar
1 c. of melted white chocolate
dash of salt
1 small carton of raspberry

Blend together softened cream cheese and butter, then add powdered sugar and milk in increments to make sure the consistency is right.  Then add melted white chocolate.  If it's too thick, thin with a tiny amount of milk.  Add a dash of salt and blend.  Top with a fresh raspberry!
