This little plastic travel doll is one of many tiny dolls I include on our family Christmas tree in memory of my mother-in-law. My husband's mother included many toys on her tree because these reminded her of her childhood. She grew up in a very traditional, German, Saint Louis community. She told me that toys were frequently unwrapped and used to decorate the tree with. She did not see her tree until Christmas morning. Children in her home were told that Santa brought the tree along with the gifts. I think I paid about three dollars for this one. Dolls like these are very common in flee markets and antique malls around St. Louis.
