And Peter then began to say:
"Lo! we have given up all,
And followed and believed on Thee;
What shall to us befall?"
And Jesus answered, "Verily,
I say, no man hath left
Parents or brethren, wife or child,
Of home or lands bereft,
"To suffer for the Gospel's sake,
Who shall not find much more,
Both in this world and that to come,
Laid up for him in store.
"But they who will be first on earth
Shall be the last in heaven;
And they who here take lowest seats
Shall then have highest given."
